Community Engagement Forum

What is the Southern Area Community Engagement Forum?

The Southern Area Community Engagement Forum gives you a chance to make a lasting difference to the quality of life for everyone living in your area – and you can still help to shape the future of the place where you live.

Since it began in autumn 2009 the Forum has focused on a number of key issues for the local community, including road safety and local policing.  The common theme throughout has been that the work of the Forum is based on what local people say they want to do to improve their area.

The Southern Area Community Engagement Forum gives you a chance to have your say about the things that matter to you, your neighbours and the wider community.  You can speak directly to the people who deliver your local services, including Selby District Council, North Yorkshire County Council, North Yorkshire Police, North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service and your local parish council.

What you say can, and does, make a difference.  For example, the County Council are now working alongside the Police and Fire Service to look at a number of road safety issues along the A19, brought directly to their attention by people attending the Forum.

You can get involved in finding local solutions to local issues.  Who better to come up with solutions than the people who live in the area?  The Forums offer you a chance to take part, to make a difference and leave a positive legacy for everyone in your area.

Forum meetings take place every six weeks.  The next Southern Area Community Engagement Forum is due to be held on Thursday 22 April at Carlton Village Hall. The venue for the following meeting on 15 July is to be confirmed. Please come along and have your say – it’s your chance to speak about any issue you have to the people who deliver your local services.
